Vista dropped their record down to 11-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the Westview Wolverines. The game marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

For Westview's part, Charles Jaskowiak made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. Jaskowiak has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Irvine, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Joseph Arango-Manley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

While Vista had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
