Softball Game Preview: Winters Blizzards vs. Bangs Dragons

For the second straight game, Winters will face off against Bangs. The Blizzards will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Winters has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Bangs will arrive with four straight wins.

Winters fell victim to Bangs and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Dragons, falling 15-0.

For Bangs' part, Abby Wolf made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Wolf has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Neeley Bradley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Baker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Bangs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 17 hits in four consecutive matches.

Bangs pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Winters, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
