Baseball Recap: Cross County Comes Up Short

If Cross County was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of East Poinsett County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cross County came up short against the Corning Bobcats on Friday, falling 12-2.

Cross County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Knoa Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Roberts hit this season.

Cross County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. The win (which was Corning's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cross County will square off against Nemo Vista at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corning, they will challenge Bay at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st.
