Soccer Game Preview: Lewis vs. Mount Vernon

The Lewis Lancers will challenge the Mount Vernon Majors at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis' last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Lewis didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Braddock and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lewis came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Lake Braddock are ranked 215th).

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon lost 7-2 to Oakton two weeks ago.

Lewis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-2. As for Mount Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Lewis took their win against Mount Vernon when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Majors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
