Basketball Recap: Coco Korella's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crimson Cliffs over Hurricane

Crimson Cliffs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 58-46 to the Hurricane Tigers. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 51-41.

Crimson Cliffs lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Coco Korella, who posted 14 points and four steals. Jayda Alofipo was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Hurricane found their leader in sophomore Laynee Walker, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 25 points along with six boards and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Walker. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Naylor, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Crimson Cliffs' loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Hurricane, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crimson Cliffs has already played their next match (against Pine View), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hurricane will face off against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Snow Canyon will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something Hurricane surely won't give up without a fight.
