Baseball Game Preview: Valparaiso Vikings vs. La Porte Slicers

For the second straight game, Valparaiso will face off against La Porte. The Vikings will head out to square off against the Slicers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valparaiso is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

La Porte's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Valparaiso hadn't allowed a single run the last six times they've hit the field. The Vikings never let the Slicers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Vikings have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Caden Crowell's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Bush, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Trent Gill was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Valparaiso hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Valparaiso pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for La Porte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.
