Basketball Recap: Prairie Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Saturday, the Prairie Hawks earned a 61-53 win over the Clear Creek-Amana Clippers. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Clippers are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Clear Creek-Amana, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie will venture away from home to challenge Decorah-North Winneshiek on Saturday. As for Clear Creek-Amana, they will challenge Vinton-Shellsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
