Softball Recap: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Pueblo Central Wildcats
Discovery Canyon's hitters rose to the challenge against a Wildcats pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.35 runs allowed on Saturday. The Discovery Canyon Thunder blew past the Pueblo Central Wildcats 11-4. Winning may never get old, but the Thunder sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Bella Holcomb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Ryan McCann was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Castro, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Discovery Canyon's record now sits at 11-12. As for Pueblo Central, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-6.
