Severance entered their tilt with Timnath on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over the Cubs. This was a revenge game for the Silver Knights: when they faced off against the Cubs back in January, they had to take a 64-56 defeat.

Leading Severance to victory were Christian Powell and Blake Varney. Powell went 9-for-16 en route to 25 points, while Varney shot 54% from the field to rack up 17 points. Varney's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarii Wright, who posted nine points.

Severance was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They are 14-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Timnath still got an impressive performance from Jack Hemme, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 20 points. Hemme is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Jacobson, who scored eight points and six boards.

Severance's record is now 15-3. As for Timnath, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-2.

Severance and Timnath should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Silver Knights will challenge Thompson Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (34 vs. 183). Meanwhile, Timnath (ranked 26th) will meet Greeley Central (ranked 193rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
