Basketball Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers

Mattamuskeet is 0-7 against Northside - Pinetown since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lakers will venture away from home to square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

Mattamuskeet is leaving town to face Northside - Pinetown after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Lakers were beaten by Eastern Christian HomeSchool 52-19 back in November. The Lakers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.

Despite the loss, Mattamuskeet had strong showings from LaKhyiah Gibbs, who posted seven points, and Ivyanna Farrow, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They strolled past John Paul II Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 55-38.

Mattamuskeet was taken down by Northside - Pinetown 53-15 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Lakers, Olivia Jane Cahoon (who went 6-for-9 on her way to 16 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
