Basketball Recap: Paige Schnaus' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gibson Southern over Lawrence North

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gibson Southern couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Lawrence North Wildcats on Saturday, falling 69-46. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Wildcats are ranked fourth).

Gibson Southern lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Paige Schnaus, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Spink, who had 21 points and six rebounds.

Leading Lawrence North to victory were Keadriah Butler and Kya Hurt. Butler en route to 20 points and five boards, while Hurt on her way to 16 points and six assists. Hurt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kalea Bentley was another key player, putting up nine points.

Gibson Southern's loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Lawrence North, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-8.

Gibson Southern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lawrence North, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-44 victory against Pike on the 22nd.
