Recap: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Lehighton Indians
The Jim Thorpe Olympians fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 28-13 victory over Lehighton on Friday. For Jim Thorpe, this counts as revenge for the 27-14 loss Lehighton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Jim Thorpe found their leader in underclassman Cole Lazorick, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Yescavage, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Jim Thorpe's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lehighton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jim Thorpe will square off against Palmerton at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. Palmerton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Lehighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwestern Lehigh at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday. Northwestern Lehigh has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last seven matchups.
