Football Recap: Manual Arts Toilers vs. Lincoln Tigers
Manual Arts's last matchup with Lincoln could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Toilers lost 48-28 to the Tigers. Despite 230 more yards than the Tigers, the Toilers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Nasir Newell threw for 50 yards and one touchdown. Jayden Pagoaga was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Jake Martinez rushed for 225 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Dominic Robledo was his usual excellent self, picking up 71 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 53 yards for Lincoln. Those 71 receiving yards gave Robledo a new career-high. Andres Pereda did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 64 receiving yards.
Manual Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lincoln, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Manual Arts will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Verbum Dei Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Lincoln, they will take on Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
