Football Recap: Platteview Takes a Loss

Platteview had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it four. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Plattsmouth Blue Devils. The Trojans lost against the Blue Devils in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 16-10 score last time.

Even if they lost, Platteview's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Marshall Stobbe, Jordan Martenson, and Oakley Osborn, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for Plattsmouth, the victory got them back to even at 4-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 13-point performance the contest before.

Levi Walker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 201 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Plattsmouth is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise. Bradin Vanwinkle was another key player, throwing for 125 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Platteview will welcome Lincoln Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plattsmouth, they will venture away from home to face off against Ralston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
