Barberton hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Magics will host the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Barberton hadn't beaten Aurora on the road since May 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Magics came out on top against the Greenmen by a score of 7-3.
The team relied heavily on Javon Clayton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cam McNulty, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Highland got themselves on the board against Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday, but Cuyahoga Falls never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Black Tigers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Richnafsky looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Highland let Nick Dobkowski and Peyton Ganda run wild. Dobkowski went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs, while Ganda went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Cameron Koch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.
Barberton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
