Softball Game Preview: Waupaca Comets vs. Oconto Falls Panthers

Waupaca is 2-8 against Oconto Falls since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Comets will face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Waupaca came up short against Little Chute and fell 7-3.

Lily Cichy made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Autumn Schmidt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Oconto Falls and Clintonville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers came up short against the Truckers on Thursday, falling 20-13. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Truckers since Thursday.

Waupaca's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Oconto Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Waupaca couldn't quite get it done against Oconto Falls in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 7-3. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
