Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Riverside

Riverside came out on top against South on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Beavers took their game against the Rebels 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won six in a row.

Mason Pozo looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Riverside: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Wittreich, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Riverside is undefeated when Wittreich posts three or more RBI, but 6-7 otherwise.

Riverside's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will head out to take on Westlake at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Demons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Beavers surely won't give up without a fight. As for South, they will challenge Brush at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
