It was a Battle of the Birds when Harrisburg took on La Pine on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Hawks 18-6. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Glide entered their tilt with Marshfield on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Pirates 18-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 27, 2024.
Ella Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Emma Geiger was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Geiger, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 12-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Harrisburg has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Glide, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
