Basketball Recap: Lake Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Lake Flyers came up short against the Maumee Valley Country Day Hawks and fell 68-60.

Leading Maumee Valley Country Day to victory were Keeran Stokes and Jeybrehm Price. Stokes went 11-for-19 on his way to 28 points along with six boards and four steals, while Price dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. Price is becoming a predictor of Maumee Valley Country Day's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 8-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sae Robinson, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Lake's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake will take on Paulding in a tournament on Friday. One thing working in Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, they will square off against Lakota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
