Basketball Recap: Metter Tigers vs. Portal Panthers
Metter lost against Portal back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Metter Tigers lost 59-35 to the Portal Panthers. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Portal's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Lanier, who posted 13 points and eight boards. Lanier is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Kj Hunter was another key player, putting up six points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Metter's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12. As for Portal, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13.
Metter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-51 defeat against Bryan County on the 5th. As for Portal, they will challenge Savannah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Savannah's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.
