League recap: Lawrence propelled into state Top 25 after victory

Lawrence was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Wyandotte. The Lions came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Lawrence extended the longest winning streak in Sunflower this week by beating the Bulldogs, 57-16. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

South's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Frank Seurer has thrown for 390 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Matt Elliot has 10 catches for 155 yards. Russell White leads the league in rushing with 722 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Lions and Lawrence Free State. Lawrence enters the contest ranked 21st in the state, while the Firebirds ranks ninth.

The Lions took down Wyandotte 57-16 last week, the largest margin of any game.
