Softball Recap: Evangel Christian's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Evangel Christian was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Coosa Valley Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lightning took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ezekiel Academy Knights on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in March.

Willa Bedsole and Makayla Cranford stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bedsole scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Cranford scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Bedsole has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydin Johnson, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Evangel Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9. As for Ezekiel Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season.

Evangel Christian and Ezekiel Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Lightning will take on North River Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (121 vs. 276). Meanwhile, Ezekiel Academy (ranked 46th) will meet Wiregrass (ranked 268th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
