Softball Recap: Mckenzie Drops Season-High Score on Georgiana

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McKenzie). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Georgiana Panthers a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Charissa Bullard was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bennett, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

McKenzie's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Georgiana, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as McKenzie Tigers challenge Florala Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Georgiana, they will face off against Monroe County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
