Baseball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

Lamar and Pearce squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Lamar had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 10-9. Surprisingly, this marked the Vikings' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Jaxon Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lamar's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 12-16-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Logan Archibald, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 14-17-3. As for Pearce, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-16-1.

Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pearce, they will challenge Guyer on Thursday.
