Basketball Game Preview: Williams Bulldogs vs. Person Rockets

Williams hasn't had much luck against Person recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Williams Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Person Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, Williams didn't have too much trouble with Cedar Ridge as they won 57-43. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Fighting Red Wolves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Williams relied on the efforts of Colby Elliot, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds, and Jaeden Smith, who had 15 points. Cavion Stokes was another key player, putting up two points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Person came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 72-66 W against the Warriors. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Warriors are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Williams' record is now 10-13. As for Person, their record now sits at 21-2.

Williams came up short against Person when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-54. Can Williams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
