League recap: Calvary Christian Academy paces 3A District 14 with two wins over past week

3A District 14 league recap: 3/8/13

Calvary Christian Academy had a successful week, as it won two total games to lead the league. The Eagles beat Somerset Academy 11-2.

Calvary Christian Academy's Andrew Liberty was the best pitcher in 3A District 14 this week. He picked up one win and two strikeouts.

The Eagles boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Luke Poirier, who hit .500 by going 3-for-6.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Alec Berizzi, who turned in two Ks for Calvary Christian Academy. He's third in the league with four total strikeouts.



Nick Kumar drove in five runners on Tuesday in the Eagles' 12-2 victory over Highlands Christian. He went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
