Recap: Alta Hawks vs. West Panthers
The Alta Hawks stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 60-40 margin over West. Winning may never get old, but Alta sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leafa Niumeitolu continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Alta's points. Quincy Kegel was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Fina Tuha. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Tuha is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Falatea, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Alta's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for West, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-5.
Alta will head out on the road to take on Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Olympus' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for West, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East at 5:15 p.m.
