Ava McLeod made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Guilamina Yost was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Makayla Laudate, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Littleton brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on Oakmont Regional with a sharp 16-3 win on Monday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Like Advanced Math & Science Academy, Littleton also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyana Killion. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Killion was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn St. Gelais was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Annabelle Caouette was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Littleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Advanced Math & Science Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Littleton, they moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Littleton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Advanced Math & Science Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Littleton, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Advanced Math & Science Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Advanced Math & Science Academy took their victory against Littleton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
