Baseball Game Preview: Firebaugh Falcons vs. Mayfair Monsoons

For the second straight game, Firebaugh will face off against Mayfair. The Falcons will square off against the Monsoons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Firebaugh's offense. They lost 10-0 to Mayfair on Friday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

For Mayfair's part, David Perez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Perez has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mayfair saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Cummins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. That's the most hits Cummins has posted since back in March. Ryan Corros was another, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Mayfair is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Firebaugh, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
