Volleyball Recap: Coastal Christian Comes Up Short

Coastal Christian and Cape Fear Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Coastal Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 3-2. While the Centurions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hurricanes 25-17 in the first set.

Coastal Christian started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 14-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Coastal Christian still got an impressive performance from Pasey Hodges, who had 38 digs and two aces. Hodges has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played.

Cape Fear Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lila Hammer out in front who had 16 assists and 13 digs. That's the most digs Hammer has posted since back in September.

Coastal Christian's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12. As for Cape Fear Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

Coastal Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cape Fear Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Wake Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
