Basketball Recap: Riverdale Academy Takes a Loss

Riverdale Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the Claiborne Academy Rebels, falling 68-30. Riverdale Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-19.

Claiborne Academy found their leader in sophomore Maddox Gaston, who went 8 for 9 en route to 18 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Garrett Adams, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Riverdale Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Claiborne Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Union Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Claiborne Academy will host Union Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Riverdale Academy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
