Softball Game Preview: Bland County Bears vs. Auburn Eagles

Bland County is 0-10 against Auburn since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Bland County has given up an average of 20 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Galax hit Bland County with a 12-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears lost 22-0 to the Maroon Tide.

Meanwhile, Auburn put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Eastern Montgomery a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Auburn got a great performance from Skyler Hodges as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Hodges has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylen Mitcham, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Kaylee Ramrattan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Bland County's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Auburn, their record is now 8-0.
