Baseball Recap: Colleton County Comes Up Short

Colleton County extended their losing streak to 14 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-16-2 in the process. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the May River Sharks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-0 defeat on Wednesday.

As for May River, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games.

For May River's part, not much got past Micah Morgan, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Colleton County off the board.

On the hitting side, May River's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tysen Brasington, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Brasington has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Gustavo Gomez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton County will take on Beaufort at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for May River, they will face off against Hilton Head Island at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Seahawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.57 runs per game on average), something the Sharks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
