Softball Recap: Ripon Has No Trouble Against Sonora

There's no place like home for Ripon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let the Sonora Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The contest marked the Indians' most dominant win of the season.

Ripon let Addison Naranjo and Izabelle Spurzem run wild. Naranjo went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Spurzem went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Naranjo has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clara Townsend, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ripon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ripon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sonora, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Ripon will challenge Escalon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Sonora will be paying especially close attention to Ripon's game: after Ripon faces off against Hilmar, they'll take on Sonora again at 5:30 p.m. on the 21st.
