Football Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short at Home Against Northview + How To Watch

Green Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 35-10 to the Northview Vikings on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Gators came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 14th in Nevada, while the Vikings are ranked 137th in California).

Michael Lewis threw for 179 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Sonny Uranich was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards.

Northview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Lucero, who picked up 117 receiving yards and one score. That's the most receiving yards Lucero has posted since back in September of 2024.

Green Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palo Verde at 6:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Northview, they will square off against La Habra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
