Softball Recap: Powhatan Comes Up Short

If Powhatan was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of James River Midlothian on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clover Hill Cavaliers on Thursday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Powhatan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mazie Harmon, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Powhatan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Clover Hill, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Powhatan will be playing at home against Prince George at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 14 runs per game this season. As for Clover Hill, they will head out on the road to take on Cosby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
