Flag Football Game Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Clay Blue Devils

The Hernando Leopards will take on the Clay Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Hernando 12.4, Clay 3.1) so any points scored will be well earned.

Hernando is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Weeki Wachee by a score of 25-13 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida flag football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Hornets are ranked 93rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlie Grant produced another solid performance throwing for 210 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75.8% of her passes. Alexis Sway was another key player, picking up 67 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Hernando didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Grant led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Clay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Citrus with a 27-21 victory. The win was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hernando's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Clay, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.

Hernando beat Clay 18-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Leopards repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
