Baseball Game Preview: Clay Panthers vs. St. Joseph Central Flyers

The Clay Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the St. Joseph Central Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Clay made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Northwest, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Mohawks by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Mohawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Green on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-7 to the Bobcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Flyers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

St. Joseph Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Everything went Clay's way against St. Joseph Central in their previous meeting back in April, as Clay made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
