Baseball Game Preview: Uniontown Red Raiders vs. West Mifflin Titans

Uniontown is 2-8 against West Mifflin since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Titans at 4:00 p.m.

Uniontown is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Albert Gallatin. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Uniontown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Gary Smitley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, West Mifflin posted their closest win since April 29, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Thomas Jefferson 7-5. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Caden Wills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, West Mifflin let Jayvon Thompson and Braeden Andzelik run wild. Thompson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Andzelik scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Andzelik a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Maggio, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West Mifflin's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average this season. As for Uniontown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
