La Crescent is 0-6 against Chatfield since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Gophers at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (La Crescent 2, Chatfield 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
La Crescent hadn't beaten Wabasha-Kellogg on the road since April 21, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Lancers came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.
Addie Murilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nadia Woodard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aspen Tarrence was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Chatfield strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Cotter 10-3. That seven run margin sets a new team best for the Gophers this season.
Madyson Proper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Sinn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Chatfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Chatfield pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.3 runs this season. As for La Crescent, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. La Crescent hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chatfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
La Crescent couldn't quite finish off Chatfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Lancers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
