Volleyball Recap: Calexico Mission Comes Up Short

Calexico Mission was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Holtville Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-16.

Calexico Mission's offense was headlined by Nathan Alvarez and Sergio Segura, who picked up four kills apiece. Alvarez also shared the team's lead in assists with Sergio Jacobo: they picked up two each. Jacobo was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Calexico Mission's record now sits at 0-10. As for Holtville, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Calexico Mission will face off against rival Brawley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Holtville is set to square off against their familiar foe West Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Holtville their first taste of in-conference action this season.
