Basketball Recap: Hayden Skates Past Vail Christian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hayden). They really took it to the Vail Christian Saints for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-33 win. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leading Hayden to victory were Taryn Schlim and Sydney Wattles. Schlim dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Wattles went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. What's more, Schlim also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Alexis Vreeman, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Hayden was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hayden's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Vail Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hayden Tigers duke it out with the North Park Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hayden is facing North Park at the right time seeing as North Park is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Vail Christian, they will challenge Rangely at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th.
