Volleyball Recap: Rice Lake Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rice Lake can now relate to. They fell just short of the Waupaca Comets by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Adaline Sheplee paced Rice Lake's offense, picking up 25 kills. Sheplee got some help from Abby Doebereiner and her 41 assists. Lily Gifford controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sage Soto had an outrageously good game for Waupaca as she had 16 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Soto has posted since back in September.

Rice Lake moved to 24-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Waupaca, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-10.

Rice Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waupaca, they will take on Luxemburg-Casco on Friday.
