Baseball Recap: Maret Has No Trouble Against DC International

After only one run in their last game, Maret made sure to put some runs up on the board against DC International on Wednesday. The Frogs blew past the Dragons 10-3. With that victory, the Frogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Maret got a great performance from Devin Trendl as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Trendl also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Frogs are 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Maret let James Velasco and Grant King run wild. Velasco went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple, while King went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. King has become a key player for Maret: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Cohen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Maret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Maret now has a winning record of 9-8. As for DC International, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.

As of now, neither Maret nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
