Softball Recap: Coventry Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

The Coventry Comets got the win against the Chippewa Chipps on Friday by a conclusive 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addisyn Hahn spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Coventry got a massive performance out of Isabella Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Scarlet Dineff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Coventry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .361 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Coventry's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Chippewa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coventry will host Field at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chippewa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norwayne at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chipps' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
