Basketball Game Preview: Cleveland Central Wolves vs. Canton Tigers

Cleveland Central and Canton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Cleveland Central Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Canton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Cleveland Central humbled Greenville with a 49-18 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Meanwhile, Canton entered their tilt with Yazoo City on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They snuck past the Indians with a 42-37 victory.

Cleveland Central better keep an eye on Shamira Morton. She was instrumental in Canton's win, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Morton is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Journee Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Canton's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Cleveland Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Cleveland Central was taken down by Canton 56-22 when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Morton, who dropped a triple-double on 25 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks.
