Softball Recap: Lassen Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Lassen proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the University Prep Panthers, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted since April 30, 2024.

Cadence Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lucy Olson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Kiki Cisneros, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Lassen is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for University Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-7-1.

Lassen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 victory against West Valley on the 22nd. As for University Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-2 loss against Hillsdale on the 18th.
