Softball Recap: Swanton Picks Up 13th Consecutive Win

Swanton came tearing into Monday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Patrick Henry Patriots. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Beyla Remer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexa Faber, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Glonek, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Swanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Swanton's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Patrick Henry, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Looking ahead, Swanton will be playing in front of their home fans against Edon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bombers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.44 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Patrick Henry, they will challenge Ayersville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pilots have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
