Basketball Recap: Eastern Greene Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Eastern Greene and Edgewood have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edgewood Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 65-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Eastern Greene saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kyan Hudson shot 53% from the field on his way to 21 points. Coby Sykes was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Will Inman went supernova for Edgewood, going 7-for-8 en route to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Inman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Huttenlocker, who posted seven points.

Eastern Greene's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Edgewood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9.

Eastern Greene wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 31-29 loss against West Vigo on the 4th. As for Edgewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-56 defeat against Indianapolis Washington on the 4th.
