Softball Recap: North Olmsted Victorious

North Olmsted won the last time they faced Valley Forge and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-3.

Elena Scott made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Salameh, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Jocelyn Suckart was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

North Olmsted's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Valley Forge, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Looking ahead, North Olmsted will take on Buckeye at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Bucks have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Valley Forge, they will be playing at home against Normandy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Invaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.85 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
